2008 Q&A Session With Hasbro's Star Wars Brand Team Round 10
Jay Cochran - June 06, 2008
Hasbro's Star Wars brand team has agreed to answer three questions from Jedi Insider fans every other week. Here are this week's questions and answers. This is the tenth round for 2008.
JI: Is the BMF Falcon going to be a general release or a store exclusive? If exclusive, what store?
Hasbro: The new Millenium Falcon will be a general release, but the sheer size means that it won't fit on the planogram at all retailers, meaning that it needs special handling and as such may come in and out on end caps or pallets.
JI: What is the BMF Falcon's escape pod based on? Is there a reference somewhere in Star Wars lore for it, or was it something Hasbro came up with on their own?
Hasbro: We came up with it in consultation with Lucasfilm. We felt that because the Millenium Falcon is simply too big to be flown by itself by kids, we needed a solution for kids to have some vehicular play. That part of the ship made a great place to "hide" the ship for a nice play feature.
JI: If the BMF turns out to be a huge success like we all hope it does and you were given the greenlight to choose another classic vehicle to re-design, what vehicle would you choose?
Hasbro: We have a pretty good idea what vehicle we'd choose next to redo, but rather than get everyone excited we've decided to keep mum and take the "wait and see" approach. If the Millenium Falcon is successful, we hope it will definitely lead to some "bigger" opportunities.
If you would like to submit a question for Hasbro to answer, then head over to the new JediInsider Forums and post it. We might select it as a question to be asked in a future Q&A.
