A few years ago, I started hearing word that Disney was not going to allow any more products to be made based on Princess Leia as Jabba's Prisoner, more commonly known as "Slave Leia" I never saw any official' word, but, it seemed to be true, as I can't recall any officially licensed product released lately based on this outfit.
Recently, I've begun to wonder, is it the name or the costume itself?
This week, Hasbro reveals the top 10 finalists in their
Black Series Archive Fan Vote, including
Princess Leia Organa (Huttslayer), a 'renaming' of
#05 Princess Leia (Slave Outfit) from 2013 (with potential for improved face deco).
I'm not sure what chance this figure actually has, especially against other high demand figures like Commander Cody, Qui-Gon Jinn, and 501st Clone Trooper (and technically, the fine print says Hasbro has veto power), but,
if it were to win, could something as easy as a name change be a loophole for more products, or is the outfit, especially worn by a major character, just be too much of a hurdle?
