In another case of people apparently having way to much time on their hands, earlier this week outrage broke out across social media over supposed female inequality in the world of action figure because Hasbro forgot to include a Rey playing piece in their Star Wars: The Force Awakens Monopoly game. Now while I admit that not having Rey in the game seemed lame and opened the company to the outrage that has become so common these days on the Internet, I don't think it was part of any conspiracy on Hasbro's part to exclude females from enjoying their products. Poe Dameron, another major character in the movie was excluded from the game as well but I didn't see people getting upset over that???
Anyway in a effort to correct the over site (and avoid anymore negative publicity) Hasbro apparently issued a statement to
EW stating that they will be adding a Rey playing piece to the game
“We love the passion fans have for Rey, and are happy to announce that we will be making a running change to include her in the Monopoly: Star Wars game available later this year,”
So keyboard warriors rejoice for you have struck another victory for the cause, not to mention any collector who keeps the non-Rey version in mint-condition (just in case it becomes rare ;)).
