DSTChuck has released a new Diamond Select Toys Q&A over on their Art Asylum website for your viewing pleasure.

In this weeks edition focuses on their sci-fi based lines such as Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek and Star Wars. Check out all out the entire Q&A below:

Is there any further word on possible re-releases of series 1 SG-1 figures? Having no choice but to pay £100 for each single figure on eBay isn’t a good way to get people to start collecting (since everyone wants the “classic SG-1″ before any other figures, no matter how good they are). Have you considered releasing two-packs mixing old and new sculpts? Say, a re-released series 1 O’Neill with the new General Hammond, that sort of thing? Hope pre-orders are picking up now that the economy (and customers spending habits) are getting back to normal.

DSTChuck: We’ve considered all of it but we have not found the support at retail to warrant a re-run yet. Hopefully the sales guys will have some fruitful discussion at Toy Fair.

Any word yet on when the SG-1 Wave 5 will be out? It was originally scheduled for July 2009, then got moved back to 12/31/09, and now it is TBD.

DSTChuck: TBD means its no longer in active development but we’re not 100% ready to say it’s canceled.

Greetings once again, Chuck. Okay, now I checked the site this morning and saw that Starbuck/Leoben and Boomer/Athena were still a go for 12/8 and 12/23 respectively. I even had it planned out that I’d get the Starbuck set this coming payday and get the Eight set ordered the week of Christmas. I come home from work, read the “ship update” on the blog and discover they’ve been delayed….again. Why does everything keep being pushed back a month? I noticed Tigh and Gaeta’s date(thankfully) stayed the same. Are they being pre-ordered at a higher rate than the other two two-packs? I guess my major question can be summed up as: Are all three of the 3 packs that are now scheduled for January finally going to come out in January? I’m waiting for them with baited breath. Also, my other big question, has the next Toys R Us wave been picked yet, who’s in it and will it contain the iconic glasses/no mustached Admiral Adama? Please Chuck, don’t leave me hanging compadre!

DSTChuck: We’re very close with all three two packs, that’s why the ship date keeps dancing. I think the package approvals at Universal are taking a few rounds of back and forth and that’s throwing off our ship date. I’ve seen final samples of all three so we’re very close! With TRU we go about 2 waves ahead in development but one PO ahead in PO’s so we’ll have to see a little pick up in sales I’d guess for them to continue to support this line deep into 2010.

Sam English
Are you ever going to make any quarter scale female figures?? No Sam Carter, no Star Wars ladies! Whats the go?

DSTChuck: We’ve considered them but nothing has been decided yet. We did come very close to a 12″ Sam but the body we were able to find was just not good enough….

Brian Petersen
In a recent Misc. Q&A, you said you waited a few seasons in for your Sci-Fi lines to see what the fanbase would be like before making figures. Are you doing the same with Stargate Universe?

DSTChuck: We’re not going to wait say 10 years like we did with SG1 but most times with a TV property you don’t look at licensing until the second year so, we’ll take a good look at Universe then and see if the property is resonating.

Scott Pollock
Have you considered or looked into getting the license for the Original BSG series? Is there enough interest commercially to produce toys and figures from the old show?

DSTChuck: There might be enough interest, the Minimates box sets we did for the classic show did pretty fair. For action figures it seems every time our deal is up for renewal someone else has the rights to classic figures- but you never know.

Kevin Gomolchak
With how well Star Trek and BSG are doing at TRU, why hasn’t the Stargate line moved that direction as well?

DSTChuck: Kevin, I would not categorize either as a run away success in TRU. IF Universe sticks then I’d say its possible you’d seem some Stargate figures in TRU down the road.

Mike L
Will there be any difference between the new Battle damaged cylon 2 pack than the other damaged retro cylon? And will they happen to come with the big automatic weapons they had in the finale? Also, is there any update on the Roslin figure? Will we be seeing her? :-)

DSTChuck: Each “new” Cylon release will have at least some changes whether is paint or sculpt. It’s way too early to offer an update on Roslin.

B R
Is it true? Have the series 4 Leader pack really moved up in production? I noticed the release date has gone from April to March! Please let it be so, and please still release Roslin! Oh, and is everything still on track for the 2 packs to have a January release, and what of the new ToysrUs exclusives? Thanks guys!

DSTChuck: We’re still trying to get an update from our factory on production but last we heard it’s moving along, they will be shutting down for CNY very soon and we’ll get much better information when they return.
