2019 SDCC Hasbro Star Wars Predictions?

By Bespin refugee on 2019-07-02 in SDCC

A little over two weeks to go until the 2019 San Diego Comic Con (July 18 - 21), and a potential preview for the rest of the year's releases. With Triple Force Friday (October 4th) coming up, I'd assume any product tied to upcoming releases (The Rise Of Skywalker, The Mandalorian, and Jedi: Fallen Order) will be kept under wraps until much closer to the release; but, I could see pending and post-release announcements.

3 3/4"
Honestly, I don't know what (if aanything?) could be revealed in the main figure range, maybe an update on the ''Retro' line? Maybe a preview with a mixture of repros and more unproduced figures?

I'd also like to hear an update on the 'Jabba's Palace Adventure Set", and maybe a tease on the future of the concept?

6" Black Series
I've seen rumors of Count Dooku (possibly Jar Jar?), beyond that, who knows. I think it's way too early for a preview of the Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary

Black Series - Archive
That also ties into my final prediction, the Archive line. There are a number of older figures (like Bespin Luke, for example) I'd like to see rereleased with updated paint apps; but, they'll probably be held until the ESB 40th line.

There's also the possibility Hasbro may spread out their announcements among the different conventions. Hopefully, well know something in a couple of weeks.

What do you think? Let your voice be heard in the discussion below.

I'm betting on a lot of 5 POA stuff for Force Friday III and maybesome Retro Collection additions, perhaps based on ESB. It would be kind of cool to get the TVC Rocket Firing Boba Fett. Rise of Skywalker stuff is just about inevitable. I'm really hoping that they re-release Bespin Han for TVC because it goes on eBay for right around $60. I'm not a 6" collector so I can't really predict what'll happen on that front.

I definitely don't think it's too early for a preview of Black series 40th Anniversary ESB figures, since they'll technically be selling one at the con, but I also don't think they'll show much from that wave, either. Lobot or Snowspeeder Wedge or a Hoth rebel trooper or Endor Luke, maybe Carbon Free chamber Han, or Lando with photoreal. I do not expect to see more than two ESB 40th figures before New York Comic Con. I do think Bespin Luke is much more likely headed for the Archive series, since they're doing a new version of Luke from the same movie in the 40th line. I also think Count Dooku or Jar Jar are safe bets. Episode II Anakin and Zeb seem like very strong possibilities, too. And I also fully expect to see a Rise of Skywalker versions of Rey, Finn, and maybe Lando but no one that we haven't already seen in the teaser trailer.
