Jon Favreau's Has Plans For A New Star Wars Holiday Special?

By Bespin refugee on 2019-11-14 in Movie & TV

Almost 41 years after it's one, and only, airing, The Mandalorian's writer/ producer Jon Favreau doubles down on his plans for a second one. He is not only interested in making one, he is already eyeing a potential guest star, "...one of the people is the member of the cast in an upcoming episode of the show. So we’ll leave it at that for now.” The first episode of "The Mandalorian" was full of references to the original special, from 'Life Day" to the weapon and creature form the animated segment that introduced the world to Boba Fett. Will it actually happen? We'll have to wait and see, but Favreau says he's ready.
“I’ve been thinking about it. It’s ready, the ideas are ready. I think it could be really fun. Not as part of this, but there’s an excitement around it because it was so fun and weird, and off and not connected to what ‘Star Wars’ was in the theater. ‘The Mandalorian’ cartoon, the Boba Fett cartoon, from the holiday special was definitely a point of inspiration for what we did in the show.”
