Movie About Star Wars 'Fan Boys' Being Made

Outsiders - October 31, 2005
Variety reports that The Weinstein Co. is closing a deal to preemptively acquire the comedy film Fan Boys, based on a screenplay by Adam F. Goldberg and Ernest Cline.

The project follows a group of young, hardcore "Star Wars" fans from the Midwest determined to take their dying friend to Skywalker Ranch so that he can see the seminal sci-fi pic in its perfect setting before he dies.

Kyle Mann will make his feature helming debut on the project, which is being produced by the Trigger Street label's Kevin Spacey, Dana Brunetti, Evan Astrowsky and Matthew Perniciaro.

Dan Fogler is set to star and the movie is scheduled to begin filming on February 1.
