The problem with superheroes in comics is that they are pruposely drawn as giant body builders. The reason is that the artist can make them stand out from average joe.

Characters like giantman is in top shape even though he is a scientist,

True and even that doesn't make much sense especially since many of them already stand out due to their

normally outlandish costumes.

Well true but he is a scientist who kicks ass as well. A scientist who gets into a fight without a bit of muscle against an evil robot is going to get his ass handed to him. Just b/c Giantman is built doesn't mean anything b/c he is actually fighting too. I'm saying that yes Jackman was taller and less built then Wovie in the comics but Jackman looked just like a real life version of Wolverine. Bale in my opinion looked a little smaller this time around but maybe that is b/c I was use to his size from BB. And this whole ninja thing is silly. Ninjas don't use stand and fight, he learned the ninja art of invisibility. If you know the art of invisibility you could be 800 pounds and get away. Bruce has to be strong and fast but to me he looked light in TDK.

But I agree with Queen I would have liked to see Bale get just a bit more pumped up. He didn't have much definition in the TDK. Didn't hurt the movie over all for me but in the scene where he is sewing himself up I noticed the lack of defintion and was kind of surprised since its a movie based on a comic book movie.

Hmm, I'm wondering why you viewed it as a surprise for a comic film, are you implying that characters from comic books are required to

be built? Being a former weight trainer in H.S, I can typically notice these things and Bale was rather toned, it could have been the lighting that obscured it, but it was there.

But I'm just a bit perplexed by your remark at the end of this quote and wondering exactly what did you mean.

I'm a weight lifter too and while I'm not saying that Bale wasn't in shape he by no means looked to be even of swimmer builds and yes I believe for a comic book movie that the hero should be built. Not exactly like brick house built but a little bit more. Even Toby Mcguire's geeky Peter Parker was built for the role. I just think Bale needed to be a little bit bigger for the role of Batman. Ninja or not his muscle tone was a little light.

To be fair its not an absolute requirement to be built if you are in a comic movie, Toby was more cut and defined. Point is, Bale was in shape, whether or not you think he should have had more

muscle mass is subjective, but he wasn't bone skinny and neither was he steroid huge. As far as ninjas go I don't see many hefty ninjas if anything they would probably be alot smaller framewise than Bale was in TDK. While comic book characters do tend to be muscle bound in the comic medium, films have leaned towards more of their other qualities, case in point , the fact that Hugh Jackman was not only taller but also leaner than his comic book counter-part, even Magneto who is normally depicted in top physical shape in the comics is played by

a skinny Ian McKellen. Fans were even complaining about Routh's build and said he was to small as Superman. I mean if you personally feel that Bale needed to be bigger then fine, thats

your opinion, but as far as comic book films go in general, I don't feel like its an absolute must.

& as for the lighting you spoke of, well correct me if I'm wrong, but the whole room was lit with floressant lighting (a super models nightmare), & it turned out to be a superhero's as well. Floressant lighting is NITTORIOUS for showing up every lil imperfection posible.

Tell you what here my final thought on the crack head batman thing. dude just needs about 20lbs, & frankly I don't care if it 20lbs of mussel or fat (altho mussel would be preferable). I just need to feel like this is a man who can not only dish it, but also take it like a man!

I don't think the point of the scene or lighting was to show every little imperfection, but it did highlight the scars he has accumulated over the course of being Batman, as far

as dishing it out and taking it like a man, thats pretty evident from the battle scars as well as the fact that he dishes it and takes it throughout the entire film.

yes azrael. Comic book movie does indeed equel mussel hero. I didn't make it that way so don't blame me. Even "Amanda Waller" in that epilog eps of JLA said to Terry McGunis "why do heros have to to be so darn..........good looking". But I wouldn't hold my breath on that one, some how I doubt out "Batman Beyond" is in to granny pannies LOL!

what's that old saying we use to have when we'd clown each other in the locker room in elementry gym class as we were taking off our shirts?.........oh yes I remember now, "PUT THAT BIRD BACK IN ITS CADGE" LOL!

I guess it goes for bats too *wink*

asrael.....im going to say this ONE MORE TIME ok, (i think I understand now why cr0w gets so cranky when he has to repeat him self).

I NEVER SAID MUSSEL BOUND. ok are we finaly clear on that? I have no desire to see a Swarzinagger or Vin Deisel, or Mr. Univers Batman. IMO the perfect Batman body if jon claud vandam (in his prime). that to me would be perfect! Bale was starting to look like untreated end stage African Aids. & that's not nit picking, its my observational opinion.

Well I understood you the first time, so there is no need to get bent out of shape. Secondly like I said Bale wasn't as skinny as you're implying,

you make it appear as if he looked like he was filming the Machinist 2. I simply stated that Nolan wanted Bale to have a slimmer more athletic

look because of the new suit he was going to wear for TDK, so it clearly had to be intentional and that Wayne typically has varying physiques in the comics that range from beefy

to slim and athletic depending on the artist. I was also referring to the fact that I was nitpicking because at one point I had a similar mentality. So while

its your observational opinion it doesn't negate the fact that Wayne's physiques varies in the comics and that clearly Nolan wanted Bale to be not

as bulky as he was in BB. That is all I said, so there is no need to get worked up
