Hasbro Announces Star Wars Diorama Winner!

Jay Cochran - November 25, 2009
Hasbro sends word of the following:

Hello STAR WARS Fans!

Following its launch at Comic-Con in San Diego this summer, Hasbro’s STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS DIORAMA CONTEST attracted hundreds of diehard fans, each recreating their favorite STAR WARS scene in a unique diorama of their very own, using an array of action figures, vehicles and accessories from the iconic toy line. Contestants submitted amazingly creative, intricate and thoughtful dioramas for a chance to win the Grand Prize — a prize package of Hasbro STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS toys totaling more than $1,000!

And without further adieu, Hasbro’s excited to announce that the Grand Prize Winner of the 2009 STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS DIORAMA CONTEST is Craig Boyse, from Clio, Michigan! Craig’s entry, “Captain Solo Awaiting His Fate In The Carbon Freezing Chamber,” was also selected the Fans’ Choice winner, via StarWars.Hasbro.com voting, giving him undisputed bragging rights throughout the galaxy. The entry will be displayed at the next Star Wars Celebration.

“I really like Star Wars and I’m a creative guy, so this diorama contest was perfect for me. Hasbro and Star Wars together — it really piqued my interest,” explained Craig Boyse, winner of Hasbro’s 2009 STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS DIORAMA CONTEST. “I was basically living in the Star Wars universe for a month — I watched the movie and studied the source material over again, but I was surrounding myself with my favorite thing; it was like being a Star Wars extra. It was hard work, but a lot of fun! “

Congratulations Craig and thank you all for participating!

At this point, I don't think Cadet Demming is viable, with only three females, none of which seem appropriate. Scarlett, with *major* mods, maybe.

Wasn't thinking so much about making Cadet Demming herself but it does establish that Crimson Guard Cadets have a different uniform. Maybe paint up a CG in blue to make a male cadet.

You know that the next wave of comic packs had a Cobra Commander in it, right? And that the Commander in the 2 pack has a blue Crimson Guard body with red highlights?

Replace the head, maybe swap the belts out for a CG belt and there's your "cadet".

If the line was able to support it, I'd totally be calling for a Demming figure. The idea that CG Cadets are decked out in Cobra blue... that they have to earn the Crimson Color... it really, *really* works for me. Kinda how I'm a bigger fan of Rip-It (or the Mass Release 25th HISS' blue HISS Driver) than the original 1983 version (why were they red, honestly?)

But the idea of a male cadet... brilliance! That's a custom I'd like to see!

Okay... I've been tinkering around with simple customs on the 25th anniversary Crimson Guard.

Crimson Guardsman Jones aka Professor Appel

Scoop - Captain in the Guard)

Wade Collins - Fred series w/red hair and a beard

Prof. Appel seems like he'd be a hard one. Short, pudgy, and with a head that'd take a brand new sculpt (IMO) to get right. Wade Collins should be easy. Sculpt a little beard on the Fred Series head, and paint it a reddish brown. Scoop shouldn't be much more difficult.

Beyond that, there's Alley Viper (an ex-Guardsman and buddy of Scoop's. The only black non-toy CG I can think of.)

Odd, I never thought of the Alley-Viper as a black man. Just based on the voice, I could see the assumption, but after learning Destro was Scottish, I threw voice actors out the window as a source of a character's ethnicity.

Based on the animation, his eyes were visible, and they look caucasian. So I lean that way.

There is a crazed Crisomn Guard in the hunt for Cobra Commander run in the Devils Due Comics.

Overlord.

Make up your own you will feel better about it.

If we had a Crimson Guard Immortal, you could make Crimson Guard #1, who was in the two-part 'The Greatest Evil' of the Dic series.

He was really the only good part of that 2-parter, so it kinda works.

Cadet Demming from "There's No place like Springfield". Her uniform was basically a CG uniform but Blue instead of Red.
