STAR WARS creator GEORGE LUCAS will be the grand marshal of the Tournament of Roses Parade in California, along with a few hundred of his favourite movie characters. The acclaimed director will be accompanied by DARTH VADER and 200 stormtroopers to be made up of members from the "501st Legion" - a group of fans from 22 countries and 36 states. The Grambling (Louisiana) State University Marching Tigers will perform, dressed as Imperial officers. Float designers are also getting into the Star Wars spirit - plans for one parade float depicts the Forest Moon of Endor, complete with cuddly EWOKS. Another float imagines the city of Theed on the planet of Naboo and features the three Queens of Naboo in ceremonial attire. The 118th Tournament of Roses Parade will take place Pasadena on New Year's Day
