My experience was a bit different but ended up the same. I was sent a total of 3 emails telling me to update my payment method for my Spider-Man '77 pre-order. I complied and Walmart.com confirmed the update every time.
Shortly after the 3rd time, I got a cancelation notice saying my there was an issue with my payment method. However, that same card, within the hour btw, went through with no issues for the Spirit Spider.
So not only did they inexplicably cancel my order, but they essentially put the blame squarely on my card, while happily charging that same card for another order the same day.
So yeah. Walmart sucks

This is closer to what happens with Target. Target often fulfills needs in the store first, and then ships preorders after.
Walmart is much stranger. They will put the product back up on Walmart.com for immediate shipment, while still delaying and then cancelling preorders.
Regardless, with both stores, if you see it in stock, order it. You can cancel or return your preorder later if needed.

It really is a sucky situation, I havent had as many bad experiences but I dont order much from Walmart. I feel for everyone.
Approving those delays when the email comes is definitely important, but yeah they cancel regardless of it
My Crystal Ball also got cancelled after waiting for 5 months of pre-order. I was very upset and contacted them. They gave me $15 off $25 but that did not help getting the figure. So I used the discount for things I was buying anyway for household products. And took it as money towards a purchase then purchased him through Ebay. Maybe if everyone complains and demands some kind of compensation that will get their attention so it will stop happening. Also, I would like to warn others about Target is trying to cancel my Gray Ghost twice so far, because he is on delay but I keep a lookout for their emails to approve the delay, because if you do not, they will cancel your order.
Amen bro, Walmart does suck. They have cancelled so many orders which crushes my hope every single time.
That is truly a disgusting practice - what is the point of pre-ordering there if it will be cancelled most of the times? I do not wish to do business with them but if this will be the general solution at most of the big stores, then.. it's hard to imagine what that could mean.
Same F&$kin thing happened to me. What a load of garbage. I had the Faker problem as well and it's just peg warming at the store. What a joke.
2 hours ago, RobertD said:Right there with you, Jay (and everyone else here). Walmart cancelled my Crystal Ball, just like they cancelled my invisible Cena the other week, just like they cancelled my Faker a couple of weeks ago (even though he was locally on-shelf 10 minutes down the road?!?). I'd estimate Walmart probably cancels 60-70% of my pre-orders. About the only thing they consistently fulfill are Legends figures. I genuinely don't understand why they do not set aside stock for pre-orders that pre-date their reception of the stock. That is literally the point of pre-ordering something. They're not going to change practice until someone sues them, and I'd be willing to bet it wouldn't be too hard to make it a class-action just going by how common a complaint this is.
You said it. Its ridiculous that a company continues a practice that just frustrates and infuriates its customer base. BUT...if the customers continue to patronize them, they have no incentive to improve. Collectors, your dollar is a source of power. Use it. If they're not doing right by you, don't buy from them until they improve. Its the 21st century. This company is the 2nd largest toy company in the world. There's just no reason for these "exclusives" to get cancelled like what@JayCand others experience.
And yeah I know the hasbo defenders are gonna say its not their fault, this is walmutt/target/amazon/walgreens etc. and they can't do anything. But Mattel sure did go into action when they found out what was going on with their Harry Potter toy.
This sucks for You guys, this used to so often just be the case here in Canada with Wal-Mart, but even more so we just never even got a chance at the exclusives, they just never showed up, or if they did it was without announcement in limited blink if you enter the store randomly type deals.
I got both Spirit Spider and Crystal Ball, without a wonder, In fact I got Spirit spider back in june, and Crystal Ball last month, I'm so sorry for the US folks since I feel empathetic towards you because of the BS us Canadians go through.
Oh man, that sucks. I ordered mine in May(two months after yours) and got mine in the mail the other day. I hate that there is no rhyme or reason to their pre-order nonsense. I have been going into these pre-orders thinking I was going to have them cancelled. I think this is the first one I have actually gotten outside of the Leatherhead MOTU figure. All the rest have been cancelled.
