Haslab Star Wars The Black Series Reva (The Third Sister) Force FX Elite Lightsaber Stands

I figured this was going to happen, I didn't see much enthusiasm from people when it was first announced and the only atenttion it seemed to be getting wasn't the good kind. I think there were a number of factors that lead to its failure and yes I believe the controversy surrounding the character was probably one of them but I'm not going to get into that as quite frankly I'm tired of hearing about it. I feel that this didn't need to be a Haslab project, it could have been a Pulse/Disney shop exclusive or even a Galaxy's Edge exclusive. Of course in order for that to happen the blades had to be removable so they could fit better in the packaging. I don't collect FX lightsabers so I'm not up to date or very knowledgeable in them but I have heard from people that it's better to go the independent route as some companies make good quality products for a reasonable price and they can be more durable. As for a Black Series Haslab project, I would think an X-wing would be a good choice. Include a new X-wing pilot Luke, maybe a new R2-D2, have the tiers unlocks be pieces to recreate the Dagobah landing or a Rebel Alliance hangar, find a way to have the stripes on the wing interchangeable to make the X-wing be Red 5 or 3 or something which would encourage people to fund more than one.

BTW, I stumbled across a limited handmade independent run of this lightsaber on Instagram. The maker is also charging around $500, but the hilt is made of ALUMINUM, not plastic like this damn thing. Value is one of those things the other product teams seem to understand, while the Star Wars team seems to think that they can sell anything at any price, and collectors will buy it, because it's from Star Wars.

I forgot about Ghostbusters. They also seem to have a pretty good idea what the fans want. A couple of the unlocks for the proton pack seemed like BS (especially the hose to connect it to the previously released particle thrower, since that should have just been included anyway), but adding the decals to backdate it to the '84 version was pretty damn smart. The display stand was a fairly nice touch, too.

I couldnt agree more; it says a lot that one of the biggest franchises in history cant get funded twice in a row, but a freaking proton pack, Transformers Victory figures, and 2 GI Joe projects can.

Let's not have a discussion about the controversy here, but I will say that while being connected to a character that fans didn't connect to the way Lucasfilm seemed to hope they would for whatever reason didn't help (personally, I just think Reva was kind of boring), I think price may have had more to do with it not being backed than anything else. It's the same light saber used by all the inquisitors. At $500 it should have come apart (more than this product was designed to do) or been motorized to spin. Those are the features it has in the show(s). Without those features it should have cost maybe $400 at the most. Like with the rancor, the value for this thing just wasn't there, and it seemed like the folks at Hasbro's Star Wars brand thought collectors would go for it just because it's a Star Wars item.

I can't help but feel like part of the problem is the controversy surrounding the character of Reva herself. I don't want to be one of those angry fan boys, and I'm not stating an opinion personally on the character one way or the other, I'm just thinking that controversy probably had to do with people not wanting to back the project.
