I'm guessing it has to do with the Beskar Armor not being revealed when this one was first released last year and now that color scheme has been used for the Carbonized Stormtrooper.

my beskar mandalorian isnt shiny. its like a matte silver. its awesome, looks great, but definitely not shiny. 

you're right that it doesnt look bad, all the carbonized figs look cool, its just an odd choice

It's a variant, in essence, poor but it doesn't look so bad, maybe they chose to "carbonize" this version and not the Beskar because the latter is already shiny.
