Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Carbon-Freezing Chamber Playset With Some Slight Modifications In-Hand Images

Jay Cochran - September 13, 2020
Instagram user jedipatrick got his hands on Hasbro's new Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Carbon-Freezing Chamber Playset a little early and decided to enhance it with a few slight modifications.

When I saw the nice playset Hasbro produced for the Vintage Collection last Summer, I already knew what to do to enhance it and bring it to a more movie-accurate display. While the set is incredibly well made and sturdy, I felt I needed to bring it closer to the custom diorama setup I’ve spent at least a hundred hours crafting a few years ago.

So the first stage is to cover up the lower section of the central platform. Easily done with a simple curved cardboard piece fitted underneath, with interior surfaced covered with a layer of aluminum foil to provide maximum reflection when light is put inside.

I also added a central circular floor section to be able to display a captive Han Solo or the fully raised carbonite block. Again, a simple cardboard cutout did the job.

This is phase 1. More to come soon.

You can pre-order this set minus that modifications from our sponsor BigBadToyStore.com.

This is way more involved than "slight." But it looks like just putting two of these together works pretty well, too.
