So none of the Black Series figures are actually new...they're just repackaged. I find myself wishing they were doing a similar carbon freeze chamber diorama in 6" scale. Just a full floor, maybe with lights would be enough.

The Haslab project better be a Deathstar.

When they do the Deathstar what would make the most sense to me isto do it in multiple parts spread out over years. Make the Deathstar be multiple sections representing different scenes and areas of the base that can then either stand on their own or be stacked/connectedtogether to form one massive playset. This way you can sell and develop each one individually breaking up the costs and payments and giving the customers who may not have the funds/interest to spend that much options to still buy specific pieces (that way its not an all or nothing scenario). Also by having them be stand alone sections/scenes that can either be displayed separately or combined together you give collectors more options on how to display it based on what will work best for their specific collection room/space. Also doing it this way I imagine the final product once all the different sections are finished could potentially be larger and more detailed than it would if we did it all at once.

That would be great but given the anniversary and other areas of focus Im guessing the Bespin Control Room(Luke/Vader battle at the end of Empire). Also it would accompany this freeze chamber. Thats my guess although like you I think Id prefer a Deathstar. Also though with the world economy being what it is this year Im wondering if they wouldnt be better off saving the Deathstar for a better financial year as I suspect that would be more expensive than Bespin.

As far as the vintage collection goes, I know Hasbro seems to be only putting so much effort behind these figures because the sales arent at the level they want but from my own observation that seems to have a lot to do with poor distribution when it comes to the figures and prices that are extreme when it comes to vehicles/playsets.

It feels like the Hasbro Star Wars linesarea bit stalled. With Black series between 40th repacks, carbonized repacks with new paint apps, and new multi colored black seriespackaging waves of figures (rebels, etc) where its mostly repacks with only one or two figures that are actually new, theres a lot coming out but very very little of it is actually new instead of a packaging/paintvariant.

Im not sure how much of this has to do with Hasbro not wanting to invest as much in tooling, how much might have to do with world events perhaps just making it easier to get new product out there if all you have to develop is new packaging, or how much of it has to do with a broad decrease in interest following a series of movies that seemed to losesteam year over year, but whatever it is I feel like Im definitely seeing/feelingfading excitement for this line based on them keep going back to the exact same figures over and over with little room spacing in between. And while one could argue the most fan demanded figures have been done, weve yet to touch any of the Ep IV cantina scene outside of Greedo, have barely touched Jabbas Palace, are only now getting our first Ewok, and as much as Im not a big fan of the prequels we really do need Jar Jar for that lineup. Of course almost all of these require significant retooling which is one thing were not seeing much of. But without that and if sticking to this current course of trying to sell and hype their audience on mostly packaging alone I see this line continuing to lose excitement and support.

While its annoying sometimes as a collector I can understand rereleasing figures just to give people a second chance at them or to make main characters available again for new collectors. That said, what I dont get is rereleasing these exact same figure Rereleases/repack so close together. This exact Chewbacca and Luke just came out in 2-packs and this exact Vader and Hoth rebel are getting 2 releases within months of one another. Why? Why not just release this Vader on the 40th card and then in a couple of years when that figure can no longer be found at retail then release it again in a standard box. Why have both on the shelf at once?

Spack - 2020-06-22 @ 10:21 pm

If Hasbro is going to re-release the snowtrooper I would highly suggest changing that thick rubber skirt to a cloth version. As it is now,it limits posability and throws the balance of the figure off. If they were to do this, I would get another one. I simple color change from the original wont be enough for me to spend another $20.
