There's no doubt that millennial prequel fans played a massive part in the Gunship being chosen, but it was one of the few ships from the prequel trilogy that featured so heavily in merchandise and on-screen. The Nebulon looks like a generic sci-fi ship and even those that have a passing knowledge of Star Wars wouldn't be likely to identify as a Star Wars spaceship, and while the bomber is very similar in design to one of the most iconic star wars ships it hasn't been favoured so much in merchandise or even on-screen. So when it comes down to it it's a choice between a ship heavily favoured by merchandise and very recognisable (even if only to the millennials) or a ship lacking in the popularity needed to win. Not to mention the fact that millennials are now reaching the age where they are managing their own finances and can now afford adult-targeted collectibles, so it is only inevitable that they played such a pivotal role in this.
There's a difference between iconic and favorite among millennial prequel fans.
The other 2 aren't as iconic as the Republic Gunship (though still great ships), so I felt this was inevitable. Bet the LEGO designers are breathing a sigh of relief knowing they don't have to try convert the complicated design of the Nebulon B into LEGO form!
Last week, LEGO asked fans to help choose the nextUltimate Collector Series Star Wars LEGO Set, andthe winner has been announced. With over half of the votes, theRepublic Gunship!
In second place, theNebulon B Escort Frigate.
And in 3rd place, theTIE Bomber.
They also reveal that three lucky voters have been randomly drawn and they will be receive the UCS Republic Gunship (as and when it is released), as well as a75255 LEGO Star Wars Yoda!

Same here, same reason.
