Hasbro has modified and re-released many of the original Star Wars Kenner vehicles and playsets over the years — or just gave us totally new ones. The playset that they have never re-released is the original Death Star, which is odd since it was arguably one of the coolest ones Kenner did.
Even though Hasbro never re-released the original Death Star playset, I have often wondered what it would be like if they did? After doing a search on eBay, I think I may have found an answer to that question.
Reanimationtoys took an original Kenner Death Star playset and completely repainted it, and made a few modifications to it. The playset now looks more modern and realistic. For modifications, Reanimationtoys added detailed control tractor beam consoles. He also created custom made slider display panels, modified the cannon a bit and added more realistic trash to the trash compactor. It still doesn’t look like a sphere from the outside, but it definitely looks cooler than the original. Now if only Hasbro would release a new version.
