Star Wars Black Series 6" Empire Strikes Back Anniversary Figures Hit Retail

Jay Cochran - January 12, 2020
Despite Hasbro not having officially revealed these yet, the new Black Series 6" Empire Strikes Back figures have apparently started hitting retail shelves. The figures are all reissues, some having updated headsculpts that incorporate the photo real technology. Bespin Luke appears to be the most improved in that regards. The figures also come on Kenner like cardbacks as opposed to the standard Black Series packaging which is probably the coolest thing about them if you already have the original versions.

The wave includes Hoth Leia, Bespin Han, Bespin Luke, AT-AT Driver and another Yoda. Check out the image via Toy Hideout.

Thanks to ohiopopculturecollector, we have some nice detailed in-hand images for the new 6" Black Series Empire Strikes Back Vintage Cardback figures being released by Hasbro. This wave includes figures of Yoda, Bespin Han Solo, Hoth Princess Leia, AT-AT Driver and Bespin Luke. With these new images you can see the improved face scans these figures feature over the previously released versions. These were located at Meijer stores, so if you are wanting to pick them up you may want to start hunting now.

Feels like it's 1980 all over again. Like looking inside of a time capsule.

All of them look fine except Luke, yes, new paint printing for the face makes it better than previous figure but that torso and arms look bad, especially when you compare figure's proportion to photo on the card.

Have to get this Luke for the newface scan technology and a the vintage card back is a huge plus. Will be picking up a few of these.

I hope these are available online, not exclusive somewhere. If indeed they're 6" then Iwant that Luke Skywalker and maybe the Han Solo in his hipsterjacket.

Has anyone seen them in Canada yet?

I can't tell if the Han and Leia are any different from the previous versions?

Yeah, me neither, they seem to be pretty much the same maybe some slight paint differences.

...and now Im going to be on the hunt for another Luke! But one of my favorite looks for Han so I will be looking forward to finding this one. Alsothe packaging is greatand I think they look good with my 40th Anniversary Legacy Pack Darth Vader.

That Luke looks to have a more accurate head sculpt, if that is the case I'll be picking it up. I may pick up the Han and Leia, but I'm not sure yet.

Looks to me like it might be the same headsculpt from before, just with Photo Real printing. Won't know until I see this in person or see better pics of it, though.
