I prefer the old 3.75" figures, just my opinion.
I like this topic. So far the 2019 Star Wars the Black Series 6 inch line is very good. Some of the highlights for me are General Grievous, Imperial Jumptrooper, and wave 1&2 of the Archive Series. Yeah, I've collected Black Series since the Bespin Luke Skywalker.
I've mostly just been collecting figures from Empire, but I've been collecting Black Series figures from day 1 (technically day 2) starting with that San Diego Comic Con exclusive Boba Fett w/ Han in carbonite. I was pretty sick with strep throat the first few days we were there in 2013, and my wife waited in line before dawn Thursday and Friday to draw tickets to get me one.
I've been collecting the Black Series figures from day 1. I've been lucky enough to have found all of the ones I've ever wanted to get. I've only missed a few of the exclusive figures and some of the ones that I had no interest in collecting.
Overall, they are great figures. Excellent sculpting and great representation of the characters in the Star Wars universe.
Hope this line keeps going strong, and I'm glad they are re-releasing some of the best figures so that those who missed out on the original run get a chance to collect them.
I remember the first Black Series I got back in 2014. Darth Maul, cost me $280 pesos, roughly 15 bucks back then. I haven't gotten all of them (not all came to Mexico, and I couldn't afford all of it, hey, Marvel takes up a lot of my budget), but I do feel proud of my collection. I'll post a picture as soon as I can.
I have been a black series collector from the 1st wave! Got all but maul. I wasn't going to collect prequel figures but I made a couple acceptions when ROTS Obi dropped but I missed Anakin. Thank the maker we get another shot with archives!
I dont have everything since Hasbro distribution still has problems. I try as hard as I can to find them on shelf but if I miss a few the secondary market prices usually skyrocket and its too late.
Face printing is awesome and I'm looking forward to some Hasbro do-overs like bespin and rotj Lukes. I have both originals but the faces are kinda... Ehhh... So hopefully we get some do-overs, and I think archive is perfect for that since the new yoda looks better.
I still like the old faithful 3.75 line and always looking to finish the crew of my BMF falcon with the latest and best versions, so I'm glad tvc is still going.
Not sure what to think of this retro line. Sort of cutting into the magic of originals and reduces what makes them so awesome. But its a cheap and neat alternative for casual collectors I suppose.
Cant wait to see the black series continue and grow with more characters and detail!!!
