Hasbro introduced its Photo Real technology in 2017 for 6" Marvel Legends MCU figures and then expanded that to their 6" Star Wars: The Black Series figures which really upped their game in the face likeness department. Thanks to the folks at Insider we have a behind-the-scenes look on how they implement that technology in the video below.

Wow, nice! Ive actually been highly curious how they go about making them... I actually supposed that there was some measure of facial scanning, at least for the modern day actors and such. I had no idea that they were just using photos, andmaking painted approximations over established sculpts.
