Han Solo's Blaster Up For Bids

By Bespin refugee on 2013-12-03 in Action Figures
Han Solo's DL-44 Blaster (more precisely, the non-firing prop used in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) will be up for auction starting Dec. 21, 2013. This prop, based on the German issue Mauser C96 pistol, would have been used in the majority of scenes, with the heavier, live-fire weapon being used for close-up shots. Noteworthy scenes requiring this lighter version incude; Darth Vader taking the blaster out of Han’s hand in Empire, Han wrestling with a Stormtrooper to regain possession of his blaster during their encounter with Imperial forces on Endor, as well as, likely being used by Mark Hamill in the same films. The 11 in. long resin cast blaster is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from a noted Star Wars collector, and has an estimated price of $200,000 - $300,000.

very cool, but i don't feel it's worth that much. $50k-$75k i could see, but not $200,000. although there are a LOT of SW fans out there and i'm sure some of them are very rich...rich enough to spend double the starting bid to own a genuine Han prop from their favorite movie of all time.
