(lol) That's me man; Obi-Wan's my favorite, and I don't know how many times I've picked this figure up in stores and put it back. I've picked up for or five characters from Wave 1, several times, and I've always ended-up putting them back. I was all set to re-start collecting Transformers again until this Obi-Wan caught my attention...
I've been at a crossroads lately anyway, collecting-wise. I just recently sold off all of my G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary figures, and I bought up whatever I could Star Wars statue and mini-bust wise over the summer. So now I'm left with nothing else left to sell, and I was really behind on my Star Wars figure collection. I haven't even finished my Star Wars 2007/2008 30th Anniversary collection. And another thing for me was the fact that Star Wars figure offerings are just all over the place now, and it has all been kinda running together for me. We have (in some stores still) the 2006 Saga figures. Then there's the 30th Anniversary and Saga Legends figures. Then we have the comic 2-packs, the Evolution sets, Battle Packs...the choices seem endless. And I'm seeing 30th Anniversary and Saga Legends figures in the new Legacy packaging...I can't remember if I already have them or not. I've even been tempted to get some Mighty Muggs. (lol) But here lately it's been hard for me to decide between the new Transformers Classics 2.0 (and Henkei) (Universe?) toys that I'm so excited about and the latest Star Wars toys. I had really been focusing on just statues and mini-busts for so long that I kinda got away from the toys. But now that I've kinda settled-down on that front, I'm being lured back into the toy aisles. And I've also had to be very selective; I'm not exactly wealthy, and being on a budget really limits what you can collect. I'm sure the rest of you can relate.
It was just so much fun looking at that display case at Wal-Mart the other morning. It was like Ralphie and his friends at the beginning of "A Christmas Story", where they're all pressed-up against that store display window looking at all of those toys. (lol) It was like being a kid again...
I guess that's the feeling I've lost lately, and I wanted to kinda get back to the fun side of collecting again. Not that I don't love the statues and mini-busts, but c'mon; you can't exactly pose them and put them in ships and stuff now can ya? (lol)
I'd really love to get the BMF. My birthday's coming up soon, so maybe I need to drop a few hints here and there... (lol)
every time i walk past that figure in the toy isle i pick it up and ogle it... it looks fantastic imho. i like a lot of the other ones too, but the obi wan really stuck out the most to me ... must... stick to ... collecting one ...line ...of figures.... must...
Great thought Devil Bat...I totally agree...I am very impressed too!
I prefer the animated figures from years back.
The only one that knocked my socks off (with it's design) is Count Dooku. The rest of the series I think is okay.. but I'm not wild about the Yoda or Hutt designs.
The figures haven't WOWed me but the only reason that I haven't picked any up is because there are so many Legacy figures that I want and they released the BMF. But this review kinda makes me want to check out the Obi Wan (my favorite of the prequels... but still no Wedge!).
