It is wrestling though... so, I will turn heel on nutlog for no reason after shaking a cyber handshake at some point in time. @pow@ @smilepunch@
Good to see you guys arent in a stupid Internet feud
I cant stand stuff like that
No harm, no foul. It was spirited and got a little heated, lol. I accept your apology and hope you accept mine. I'm sorry for taking anything out of context or the wrong way, you know.
The average lurker on the message board is going to see the replies to this thread and think, since the average thread gets a reply or two, this was epic, lol.
First off , it would take a lot more than a disagreement about pro wrestling to offend me . But , it seems that I may have offended you , & that really wasnt my intention .
I honestly wasnt trying to bust your chops or #$## at you . I thought we were just having a spirited difference of opinion , so if I was out of line with any of my comments , I apologize .
Have you ever read any of my posts where I have blasted WWE and their decisions? I take everything bad to task. Did you miss me tearing into Khali? Did you miss me ripping Hornswoggle? Vince and his millions? Where have you been? It's not just a TNA, ROH thing. Believe me, I would love to see those promtions do something that mattered... but, they haven't. And, unless they change their ways, they won't.
You know, I look at people like you all who love to bash WWE and complain... and, the thing is, you don't do anything but b*tch and moan. The best way to show you disapproval with the product is to... NOT WATCH IT. For example, I have reached a level with NASCAR in which I dislike the way the sport has sold its soul to corporate America and to foriegn manufacters (namely Toyota). I hate restrictor plate racing at Daytona and Talladega and I dislike the cookie cutter tracks of the current Nextel Cup Series. So, I choose not to get upset or annoyed by the product. I choose not to piss and moan about the product. I DON'T WATCH IT.
If everyone who disliked something were to simply not watch the product and not give it attention, things would be shaken up (possibly for the better). The drop is ratings and loss in commercial revenue would lead to changes. Of course, then those same people who get off on b*tching would have to find something else to complain about. Possibly the newest Egg McMuffin. Who knows?
To tell someone to re-read their own posts, I must say to nutlog, whom I have apparently offended, to re-read his own post. And, I quote: "Whatever floats your boat."
Exactly. So, why are you busting my chops because I praise the top promotion today, in my opinion? It IS what floats my boat. Go enjoy whatever floats your boat and stop b*tching at me.
I'm done with this thread. Say whatever you wish, nutlog, and enjoy your victory in this thread arguement. I have better things to do with my time than argue online. There is an old saying, "Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience." I have been defeated.
I was just coming back to add to my previous post & noticed Catter said almost the same thing that I was going to .
For the record : I still watch WWE & like some of it & loathe some of it . I watch TNA & like some of it & loathe some of it . I watch ROH & like almost everything that I have seen thus far , but there are some things that I havent thought were great either .
BD , I notice that you seem to take a shot at any other promotion that gets mentioned besides the WWE . Its almost as if you are on the WWEs payroll trying to quell any mention of anything that might remotely be considered competition .
Maybe you should have more of an open mind when it comes to pro wrestling ? I have to question anyone that faithfully follows ANYTHING without any type of criticism at all .
I dont know , maybe you follow so blindly because of the glare off of Vinces butt the last time someone joined the "Kiss My Ass Club" @smilepunch@ ?
Great Comment Nutlog
But for BD I still like WWE but they have been watered down for the past 5 years.Every now and then we get something good Like Flair vs HBK or Lesnar vs Angle and Guys like Eddie and Beniot going at it but then we have matches like Khali vs HHH and Hornswagle as Vinces son or Vinces Limo Exploding or Vince being Crushed by the titantron
First of all, punk is lame, regardless of who the band is. Larry the Cable Guy is lame. And, Titanic is overrated. That "slipery slope" and narrow-mindedness is the arguement I was expecting.
My point exactly . It has nothing to do with indy or corporate ..... you should re-read your earlier comments . You are the one that said that ROH is irrelevant because they dont have national exposure .
But, to ignore the importance of WWE in the wrestling business is to show complete and total ignorance. This "sports entertainment" which people like to blast has been more influencial, not only on professional wrestling, but on all of sports. Before wrestling, did Major League Baseball and the NFL have the loud entrance music for teams and players? Did NASCAR have the flashy driver introductions? Did MMA have the flashy introductions? Did all of these sports have the elaborate video packages hyping personalities? No, they did not. Now, I'm not saying that WWE is soley responsible for this impact on other sports... but, ROH and TNA certainly had nothing to do with it. It was the other major promotions of the era... the promotions which have since died while WWE lives on.
I am not ignoring what WWE has accomplished , thats great that they influenced the way other sports are produced , that & 25 cents can get them a cup of coffee. Maybe they should spend some of the money that they use on pyro , entrance videos , music , etc. & hire some people that understand the sport to start writing some decent storylines & match outlines . Oops, they already spent that money on Freddie Prinze Jr. & the weightlifter guy
Pro Wrestling to me isnt about who has the slickest production values , who does the neatest entrance dance , who has the coolest music , explosions , video , etc. Its about two guys busting their asses off to give however many people are watching them the best showing of themselves possible .
Some people like sizzle over the steak , some people choose flash over substance , some people are mesmerized by shiny objects , & some people worship the WWE .
First of all, punk is lame, regardless of who the band is. Larry the Cable Guy is lame. And, Titanic is overrated. That "slipery slope" and narrow-mindedness is the arguement I was expecting. You see, it either is "indy" or it's "corporate" with people of your rationale... judging from your reaction to my earlier comments.
To each their own...

You mentioned money has the measuring stick. I did not. The measuring stick is longevity and surviving... evolving to survive the times. WWE has done that. WCW, ECW, Crockett Promotions, AWA, and countless others did not. That, THAT, is why I support WWE and why I am blown away by people who love to "slam" WWE and their style. Without WWE, you "wrestling fans" wouldn't have wrestling to enjoy.
WWE is wrestling. Wrestling is sports entertainment. All sports are sports entertainment. There is not a legit sport in the world anymore and the sooner people wake up to that, the sooner they will stop mocking the term "sports entertainment."
Before last week, Morishima had never crossed my radar because he was not on a national stage. Sorry ROH marks, ROH isn't national or even relevant without TV or a widely offered PPV outlet (DirecTV doesn't even have them). And, him being a big name in Japan... well, this is America. As elitest and narrow-minded as it sounds, this is America and his accomplishments there mean nothing here.WWE style might be boring to some. But, it is also "the way." Without it, wrestling would be dead in this country because TNA is laughable and ROH is non-existent. Sometimes I just feel an urge to point that out when people speak as if WWE is the worst thing since Vince Russo.
So BD , by using that rationale , you must think that Titanic is the greatest film ever , Blink 182 is the best Punk rock band , Larry The Cable Guy is the funniest man alive , etc.
How and why would anyone judge quality by how much money something makes , or by how much mainstream exposure something has ? The bottom line is , if the product is lame , its lame .
WWE has never been the standard of pro wrestling & probably never will be . Yes , they are the most lucrative and mainstream , but that can be attributed to their slowed pace , watered-down-to-please-the-mindless-masses form of something that resembles pro wrestling . Does that make it the best or even the most entertaining ? Not to me , but whatever floats your boat .
Nowadays , I guess people are either "Sports Entertainment" fans or Pro Wrestling fans .
