Hasbro's Star Wars brand team agreed to answer two questions from Jedi Insider fans on a regular basis. Here are this session's questions and answers.
JI: With you all doing the new Vintage rocket launching Boba Fett figure this year, it had me thinking. Have you considered doing any kind of special then and now figure sets? Like where you release a set with a remake of the original Kenner figure and then one of a modern day version, like maybe do a limited set using the characters from the original early bird Kenner set?
Hasbro: We have indeed taken a good look at this suggestion, even before work was started on Boba Fett. We decided that our future direction and expenditure of tooling dollars should be to move forward and create figures that fans have not seen before or that update characters to modern sculpting and articulation standards (where relevant). Re-sculpting and re-releasing figures in the vintage style, especially when they can be had very inexpensively loose on the secondary market, did not seem a substantial movement forward for our line. The only remaining question becomes what value the Early Bird figures have in doing sets as you suggest; we think that this is an interesting idea. However, lot of fans may not like buying two figures they already had just for the packaging, so the base of interest is probably is probably lower than other ideas and this it remains on the back burner.
JI: Word is, starting with wave 2 of the new Vintage line, you will be releasing special "Bounty Hunt" foil carded figure, very similar to what you did with Ultimate Galactic Hunt cards from the TSC and TAC line. Is this true and can you provide us with any more details about it, like which figures will see this treatment, at least in the first couple waves?
Hasbro:Yes, we can confirm that we will be doing an UGH chase program. The difference in this case will be a foil logo and stripe around the card. Nothing inside the blister will be different from the regular release.
