I'm not the only person in my particular neck of the woods that rejoiced when the news came out that Target was going to have more exclusives. I was talking to a bunch of guys about this at a hobby shop that sells old RAH stuff and we have all had a lot of luck getting stuff without being there first thing in the morning (as a matter of fact, I usually go after picking up the boy at school/daycare). It's a good deal for us.

Last Christmas the TrU exclusive Y-Wing and TIE Interceptor did not come out until January. Not because they weren't available, but because they sat in the warehouse because of a shipping error. I'm not saying that it was the end of the world, but man oh man it seemed that way when having to deal with the collectors. Not to mention that we marked the price of many key items up just before the Big Toy Book went into effect, making many items higher in price even after the coupon was used.

Now, VH... I have lived in New Jersey and the TrU was WONDERFUL there! Just as you described. But the thing about Rockaway, NJ is that it is just a few miles from Wayne, NJ where the TrU headquarters is. I live in Iowa and just 5 hours north is the Target headquarters. You're right, a few good employees rarely makes a difference. But an entire corrupt region makes for a big 'ol headache.

which is why they SUCK here in my territory, here in the backward-ass COW town of Columbus Ohio, the barren wasteland of few Joe fans.....I guess?

Dude I moved from West Virginia to Columbus. You don't know COW Town!

I could only imagine. For clarification though, I's being sarcastic, as I've heard others claim Columbus to be a "cow town" when they get a little too big for their britches and want to MOVE away from Ohio. probably happens in EVERY state. Actually....I would think Columbus or Ohio period would have a pretty good G.I.joe following, that would put it UP there in the high end of locations needing to be WELl stocked in Joe product, but it's looking otherwise here lately.

Trust me, TrU doesn't care any more about you getting your toys than Target does. As a matter of fact, the people running TrU came from Target. They think the Target way is the way to run the business. Do you like the red shirts at both places? Have you noticed the GPS systems and pet supplies in your TrU stores? TrU is focused on selling Buyer Protection Plans and batteries... known as "visibles" or things that people DON'T come in expecting to buy.

I still love TrU and continue to shop there. The only point is that one "Big Box" chain does not care about you any more than another. If you have problems with the store in your area, it's probably a problem with the management.

I don't think it's a matter of individual people giving a sh@#.. so much, as it just seems to be a better system in place (at TRU) that doesn't really require individual...THOUGHT? No one "cares" any more or less, than any OTHER, it's just an automatic process. Management can definitely make a difference though, and seeing how this is AMERICA....those managers (and employees) probably spend more time b!tching about their job and how it doesn't pay enough to put up with all this sh@# (even though that sh@# was on the job description when they filled out the application and got hired, but hey, you get your foot in the door and THEN you snuggle in to the disgruntled American worker routine ) so i doubt there's too many 'good" ones, that would make too entirely MUCH of a difference.

You came out to my town, hit my stores and didn't bother to stop by or call? I thought we were friends?

@smilepunch@ Sorry man! It was a fast expedition...in and out baby, IN & OUT!!!

At TrU they are called "Key Items" and you can find them by their yellow tag on the shelf. Key items are supposed to always have a place on the shelf or peg and cannot be subsituted unless the corporate office says so. That's what we were told. In practice I have found in many stores that the tags are often pulled and proper maintenance is based only on how good the employees and the managers are.

I worked there for two years. Yea TRU always has great exclusives. Bad thing is my local TRU is at least an hour or so away. I went to my local Target (which is much closer, like, down the street) and they did have the simple exclusive vehicles and, big surprise for me up here in NY, the latest wave of Joes. Ya hoo!!! But I saw other things... Transformers Animated deluxe Prime was one of em. I will very very much regret buying it............ @grumpy@

Hit 4 Walmarts today...no new Joes! Don't know if it's because they put them out ONCE and they're already gone, or if they just STILL haven't restocked any new stuff, and the old dusty comic packs and the 4 Buzzers and 2 CC's are still the only ones left behind, unloved? In either case...NO NEW JOES!!

Hit 2 Targets today...no new Joes! Don't know if it's because they put them out ONCE and they're already gone, or if they just STILL haven't restocked any new stuff, and the old dusty comic packs and the 4 Buzzers and 2 CC's are still the only ones left behind, unloved? In either case...NO NEW JOES!!

Hit 2 TRU today, and while they had no new Joes, they DID have the TRU exclusive Battle Packs fully restocked and in pretty good supply about 5 of each, and i got to thinking "gee..how'bout that, they actually RESTOCKED these items that are "EXCLUSIVE" to their chain?" What an amazing thing that was.

You came out to my town, hit my stores and didn't bother to stop by or call? I thought we were friends? @smilepunch@

TRU IMO are better at keeping exclusives in stock then any other chain

Yeah, I realize that TRU carries ONLY toys, so it's probably no big ordeal for them to PUSH the "exclusive" items out there on their shelves, (makes since to me) even to the extent of not carrying as much of the main line stuff in it's place, but hey, if it's ONLY available there and no where else, I'd rather see them do it that way. I guess this is tying in with the other exclusive rant topic of darthhenning's, but it was rather nice to see that TRU did a RESTOCK of the items they carry of G.I.Joe that are their personal exclusives, which makes me feel good that the other exclusive items they'll be carrying will be available to me, even over a longer amount a TIME. If i happen to miss the FIRST load of'em, I feel confident there'll be more.

Not the case with the Target exclusives and why I CRINGE at the news of their getting MORE...especially of the vehicles, which is why they SUCK here in my territory, here in the backward-ass COW town of Columbus Ohio, the barren wasteland of few Joe fans.....I guess?

Have you ever thought of visiting the Johio website? It's mainly Ohio collectors and they've all been helped each other our regularly. Not to drag you away from TNI, but Johio.org... Cmdrinchief, Tazzman, GGPike and I all post there. (Not sure who else from TNI posts there.)
