Product Backstory
During an illegal occupation of Naboo by the Trade Federation, Queen Amidala and her Jedi protectors, Master Qui-Gon Jiin and his Padawan apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi, lead a strike team on a daring raid of the Royal Palace to capture Viceroy Nute Gunray and end the occupation. But once they enter the palace hanger, they encounter Darth Maul. Qui-Gon steps forward with Obi-Wan to calmly defend the young Queen, assuring her that they will defeat the dark intruder.
Trained in secret as a merciless killing machine by the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, Maul is a vivid manifestation of dark side rage wielding a doubled bladed lightsaber with inhuman dexterity and grace, his red tattooed visage dotted with sharp horns. Maul is determined to exact Sith power on the unsuspecting Jedi as his attempt to force Amidala's submission to the Federation's demands are intercepted.
While Amidala and her team continue their pursuit of the Viceroy, Qui-Gon Jiin and Obi-Wan Kenobi attack Darth Maul in tandem.
Leading them out of the hanger and into the palace reactor room, Darth Maul engages them on the high catwalks, beginning one of histories greatest lightsaber battles.
Navigating the perilous footing and laser fields of the reactor room, the Jedi struggle to overcome Darth Maul, but the Sith eventually manages to gain the offensive. Qui-Gon is unable to adequately counter-attack, and Darth Maul plunges his lightsaber through the stunned Jedi. When the laser field between them drops, Obi-Wan attacks using all his Jedi skills to defeat the monstrous Sith Lord. After a valiant struggle, Obi-Wan flips over his opponent and delivers a lightning fast strike that cuts Darth Maul in half. Obi-Wan Kenobi runs to his dying master who makes Obi-Wan promise to train young Anakin Skywalker in the ways of the force...a promise that will forever change the destiny of the Universe.
