EA Says Star Wars Games Can't Violate Canon

By Bespin refugee on 2016-02-01 in Games
When asked if any characters from The Force Awakens would appear in future expansion packs for Star Wars Battlefront, Electronic Arts finance chief Blake Jorgensen explained, “You can’t make a game in ’Star Wars’ that violates the canon of ‘Star Wars,...meaning, you can’t take something from the future and bring it back into the past unless it’s a reference.” They don't rule out the possibility of the characters appearing in a "Battlefront" sequel, “We’re trying to stay tightly connected to the ‘Star Wars’ beat for future movies, and we will obviously in future Star Wars games be able to tap the new characters and vehicles and so forth,” Mr. Jorgensen said. The lack of characters from The Force Awakens haven't hurt sales though, as they say "Battlefront" sold more than 13 million copies before the end of the year, months ahead of earlier projections.
