Celebrating this year's 30th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, THQ Wireless Inc., a subsidiary of THQ Inc., today announced it is working with ngmoco - a premier creator and publisher of applications for mobile devices - to develop and co-publish Star Wars Imperial Academy exclusively for iPhone and iPod touch.
Star Wars Imperial Academy will present iOS gamers around the world with an exciting multiplayer game built around ngmoco's proven Eliminate engine.
In Star Wars Imperial Academy, players need to prove they are elite stormtrooper material as they compete against other Imperial Academy recruits in intense four-player death-match battles that take place across the Star Wars galaxy. They will have to master close-quarters blaster combat, long-range sniping and explosive armaments - all in such classic Star Wars settings like Hoth, Cloud City, Tatooine and more.
"We've been inspired by the Star Wars films to raise the quality bar to a new high for Imperial Academy, which we've developed as a totally unique experience, combining a first-person shooter with the excitement of Star Wars for amazing mobile game play," said Adam Comiskey, Vice President, THQ Wireless.
"As huge fans of the Star Wars universe, ngmoco is excited to work on such a storied franchise for our first ever property-based game," said Neil Young, CEO and founder of ngmoco. "Star Wars Imperial Academy brings together our passion for first-person shooters and Star Wars in an amazingly fun and high quality experience."
