New "The Force Unleashed 2" Game Details Revealed In Gamepro

By Jay Cochran on 2010-05-08 in Games
We told you earlier this week about new images for LucasArts' upcoming Force Unleashed 2 video game that hit the net, that were scanned from a French magazine. However since the magazine was written in French, not much in actual details were revealed for the game. Now thanks to a newest issue of Gamepro magazine #261 which is on stands now, we have some more details about the upcoming game to share with you.

In the article it talks about how the folks at LucasArts went about bringing the games lead character "Starkiller" who was killed off at the end of the first game back to the land of the living. Basically the game will start off on the planet of Kamino, birthplace of the Empire's Clone Army from "Attack of the Clones" where Vader arrives to inform an imprisoned Starkiller that he is part of a special clone experiment, one that seems to have a flaw of making all the cloned attempts go insane eventually. Whether Vader is being truthful or not remains to be seen.

The article also refers to a few of the locations Starkiller will be going to in this game, like the planet Cato Neimoidia where he fights a mean looking Gorog, which you see in the teaser trailer that was released a few months ago and can see again below.

The article also confirms that Starkiller will be visiting the planet Dagobah, home of the Jedi Master, Yoda. The offical game site has been hinting on it's intro page over the last several weeks that Dagobah would somehow play a role in the game.

On Dagobah, Starkiller will find the "Cave of Evil," the place Luke confronts the vision of Darth Vader in Empire Strikes Back. In this cave, Starkiller will experience visions of his own. In the article it states the folks at Lucas weren't willing to reveal if Starkiller will actually confront Yoda in the game while he is on Dagobah or not.

Besides a new storyline and locals for Starkiller to visit in the new game, he will also be gaining some new abilities. For instance in this new game Starkiller will be able to wield two lightsabers at the same time. He will also have new force powers such as "Force Grenade Power" where you grab guys, charge them up with lightening, and then blow stuff up with them. Another new ability will be that he can use "Mind Tricks" on his foes. When you target enemies with this, they will turn on each other and take themselves out.

The article also talks about how this game will movie at a different pace from the first game. In the first one it was all about combat, where with this one they have tried to add more scripted moments, more puzzles and more room to breath so you can explore the environments more. They also plan to have a more intimate and personal story for the Starkiller character, as opposed to the first game where basically he was just hunting down Jedi.

I won't give away all the details of the article, but if you are a fan of "The Force Unleashed" games, and are eagerly awaiting this sequel, which will be out on October 26, 2010, be sure to pick up this latest issue of Gamepro magazine on magazine racks now.
