Lucas' Original Plan For The Sequels

By Bespin refugee on 2015-01-13 in George Lucas
While promoting his latest project, the animated film, "Strange Magic", George Lucas talks about fatherhood and filmmaking. He reveals he originally planned to develop the next three Star Wars films and finish Episode VII before he sold his company, but, Disney's offer came along at just the right time; "It's better for me to get out at the beginning of a new thing and I can just remove myself. He adds that he regrets not being able to see the original Star Wars (as an audience member); "I never got to be blown out of my seat when the ship came over the screen," Lucas says. "The next one, I'll be able to enjoy it like anybody else."
