James Earl Jones Honored At American Theatre Wing Gala

George Lucas and Samuel L. Jackson joined James Earl Jones earlier this week as he was honored during the American Theatre Wing Gala in New York. Lucas notes the casting for Darth Vader's voice came down to two choices, Jones and Orson Welles. “I knew the voice had to be very, very special,” Lucas said. “It was a tough choice, but in the end, it was a really easy choice... James Earl Jones won hands down. He created, with very little dialogue, one of the greatest villains that ever lived.” Presenting the award, Jackson said, "Thank you for giving us the courage to attack a role, and not simply enter it."
