Star Wars Insider #113 - Interview Excerpt

By Bespin refugee on 2009-11-13 in General News
StarWars.com has posted an excerpt of an interview from The Star Wars Insider #113 with The Clone Wars producer Cary Silver, dealing with George Lucas' involvement in the production of the series.:

"How hands-on is George Lucas?

Far more than anybody realizes. He's very involved in the crafting of the stories and the whole script process. He's also involved throughout the production in terms of seeing artwork, providing reference, ideas, and concepts for designs. He personally goes through every episode in the production phase as well as the final edits of the episodes once they're in full color.

George has his own ideas about where the show should go and where it should be and that pushes us into directions unknown. The reason why he's been such an amazing, innovative filmmaker all these years is because he's not bound by the limits of the craft of film-making today, or the levels of quality that can be readily achieved. He's continually light years ahead of the curve, and that creates a great deal of production challenges to figure out a way to be true to that. I have to say that I think we've struck a good balance, and I know he's very happy with the show and the way it's looking. It's incredible working with him. To sit in script sessions with George, or to sit in edit sessions, is an absolute master-class in filmmaking."

John Cena should change into some kind of military man, a la The Marine of some sorts. That gimmick might work out for him.

In my opinion, his character is still the same: white guy who likes rap. Cena doesn't do freestyle raps anymore. But, he wasn't doing those when he won the majority of his WWE Championships either. People may think his gimmick has changed. But, it just hasn't changed enough in my eyes to actually say that it has changed at all.

Plus, this might be just hearsay. But, there have been rumors of WWE designing a "Big Gold Belt" spinner version of that belt. With Cena on RAW and the WWE title already being humbled in a way only The Iron Sheik could appreciate by being turned into ghetto trash, the World Heavyweight Championship going to Cena and being raped would mean the logical NOC results would have Trips and Bats winning.

That doesn't make much sense now, but then when does half the things the WWE do make sense. When Cena first came out with the spinner belt it fit his character, now it wouldn't.

It looks like Mark Henry will prolly win the ECW belt since that match has been changed to a Triple Threat.

Where's Ashley Massaro these days? Massive heat, 'nuff said.

I wish her well. After all, all of that heat must be unbearable... considering the untreatable rashes she has obtained from her previous occupation are now on fire and burning everytime she tries to go to the restroom... OH, you meant backstage heat. My bad, my bad.

Title-wise... ECW is screwed unless they use my predicted idea, lol.

Here is how I think it goes.

- Kane retains the ECW title. They work a storyline where Teddy Long, as ECW GM, will change the SD/ECW Talent Initiative into a RAW/ECW Talent Initiative. This allows for the upcoming RAW/ECW TV Taping/House Show merger to work as well.

- Triple H defeats John Cena to retain the WWE title. They are 1-1 and HHH takes that title to SmackDown.

- Batista defeats Edge for the World Heavyweight title and takes it to RAW. This keeps the World title out of the picture when The Undertaker returns to ruin Edge/Vickie's wedding on SD. they feud without having the title involved, allowing the title to not be involved anymore in that stale rivalry.

I'd rather have Edge be champ on SD and Cena champ on Raw. I just prefer those two over Trople H and Batista right now. Plus it keeps Edge on top so he would not be immediatly pushed down just so HHH can be champ. I'd rather see Undertaker come back and have a chance at the title when facing Edge too. Switching the titles could work and the Undertaker/Edge fued does not have to have the title involved, it could work too I just prefer the other way.

I posted my thoughts on the ECW title in the Supplemental Draft thread.

My guess is Kane drops the belt to Big Show and Big Show winds up on ECW full time. As to the Raw belt,if Triple H doesn't drop it to Cena and takes it to Smackdown, then I'm sure Edge will drop the Smackdown belt to Batista. That way all belts will be back where they belong. By that I mean the Raw belt will wind up back on Smackdown where it started and the same will happen with the Smackdown belt. I could be wrong .
