With the recent announcements of the
Lucasfilm Story Group and the establishment of
Star Wars: Legends, also comes word of a new series of adult fiction novels from Disney Publishing Worldwide and Del Rey Books, which will now be part of the official
Star Wars canon, along with the films and current tv series,
The Clone Wars and
Star Wars: Rebels.
The first novel in this line is
Star Wars: A New Dawn, set several years prior to
Star Wars: Rebels, and scheduled for release September 2.
The next book scheduled for release is
Tarkin, written by James Luceno (
Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader,
Darth Plagueis) and cover art by David Smit, and will hit bookshelves November 4, 2014.
Heir To The Jedi, originally slated to be part of the
"Empire and Rebellion" series, will be a "first-person Luke Skywalker story', written by Kevin Hearne (
The Iron Druid Chronicles), scheduled for release in January 2015.
Finally,
Lords of the Sith, by Paul S. Kemp (
Crosscurrent,
The Old Republic: Deceived, and
Riptide), features Palpatine, Vader, and an unnamed character from
The Clone Wars animated series, and will be released in March.
