Hasbro's Star Wars Unleashed Wave 5 figures
Written by: Brandon Miller

Hasbro's statue-like Unleashed series continues with wave 5 that consist of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and Darth Sidious! Hasbro previously released in series 1 Darth Maul, Jango and Boba Fett. In the second series Anikan Skywalker, Padmé Amidala, and Darth Vader. In the third installment Mace Windu and Darth Tyranus and in the fourth one Princess Leia and Darth Vader (same release as before) with a removable mask. Many people may not be happy with Hasbro but I honestly think that they have tremendous sculptors and these figures prove it especially the vary ones I'm about to review here!

Accessories: Each figure comes with an accessory. Luke Skywalker comes with a base from Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi and a green vaper trail from his green Lightsaber but his Lightsaber is molded on to the fiery trail. Its a metal peg that screws into the saber. Luke has a metal peg as well in his left foot that he pegs into the stand and the trail snaps together nicely onto the excellent base. Obi-Wan Kenobi has metal pegs and he stands very well on to his rocky platform from Geonisis. He too comes with a Lightsaber and unlike Luke's saber Kenobi's blue blade is detachable. Darth Sidious includes a base from ROTJ and two sets of removable hands. One set is reaching out at you and the other is emitting force lightning! All three figures are very stable on their stands!

Articulation: These figures are mini statues and in My opinion they do not require articulation. I love the Unleashed series and I think movements in the figures would totally ruin just not the sculpt but the figure itself. These in My opinion are meant to be the affordable answer to statues and such.

Durability: All three figures are very durable but do be careful with the sabers and especially Sidious' lightning as it is long and made out of different/thinner plastic but other than that these figure are top notch sturdy!

Packaging: The packaging is very attractive with a nice bubble for a good view of the figures. It has a pictures of the figures on the bubble, a brief story about the character and a preview of the other figures in the series. I am a bit disappointed that there isn't a picture of the characters from the movies their from. Mint On Card collectors however will not be totally satisfied when it comes to the cards' edges as most are slightly bent but in My opinion it isn't a problem. The packaging is quite nice to look at!

Paint: The paint is excellent! On the figures that I have there are no paint blotches anywhere! The face paint of all three are superb. I don't know what else to say? Great work Hasbro!

Sculpting: This category is what is all comes down to in My book! I am really surprised about how realistically these look to the actors who played them! Darth Sidious' face is outstandingly scary! They captured his teeth from the film and his eyes are so evil looking! His hands are sculpted very devilishly! His base is incredible and I think its a good likeness of Ian McDiarmid! Luke has excellent sculpting. His moles on his face are very visible which I am so glad Hasbro went an extra mile with that and his base is really realistic looking from ROTJ! Great likeness to Mark Hamil! This figure of Obi-Wan really looks like Ewan McGregor though his mole on his forehead is not present. His base is sculpted nicely. Hasbro did a nice job here as I am very satisfied!

Overall: I think this is one of the best sets of Unleashed thus far! There is one thing that I am not sure of and that is on the card of Darth Sidious there is no mention of him being Emperor Palpatine. Could this mean something for the upcoming and very anticipated Episode III? I really can't say but here you get three great characters, three great figures with no paint application problems, superb sculpting, great displaying with each other and at an affordable price tag! What more could a Star Wars fan and figure collector ask for? These figures bring so much intensity that in My opinion this is a must have and I believe most Star Wars collectors and fans alike with love these figures in their collection!
