The latest clone based character to join
Hasbro's 6" Black Series line shares many similar characteristics in both the actual figure and in character background with that of
Captain Rex.
A popular character from the cartoons as opposed to movies this
Clone Commander comes packaged in the same style as we see with all the Black Series line featuring the black and red window-box with the multi-lingual bio on the back. Since this figure is an exclusive there is no numbering on the side. The figure is a multi-store exclusive for
Disney Store, Barnes & Noble, and
Gamestop.
For accessories you get two blaster pistols similar to the ones that came with the Rex figure and a removable helmet. The pistols will fit in working gun holsters found at the waist of the figure, again just like we saw with the Rex figure and the helmet has an articulated view finder which is a throwback to the Mandalorian armor.
For the figure itself, I really like the headsculpt. One of the best Clone headsculpts Hasbro has done to date and the battle scare over the right eye looks nice. The paint apps are solid as well featuring some nice looking 5 o'clock shadow and the standard black clone hair. The Helmet which is made from a rubber material has some nice detailing as well with the wolf like markings and scratch marks that tells you Wolffe has definitely seen some action. The helmet is a tight fit on the head so I do recommend caution when taking it off and putting it back on. I worry that over time it might cause paint scratching on the head.
The body appears to be a re-use of the one used on Rex with some slight modifications. You have what I think is a communication antenna on the left shoulder which is made from a thin rubber like material which bends easily. You have the standard clone armor shoulder pads with nice Wolf like markings that are cleanly painted on the figure. The wolf head on the right shoulder pad looks especially nice.
The belt is the same one used on the Rex figure and you also have the soft-goods skirt like pieces which on wolf is solid black with a liter black trim. Wolffe's does seem a little shorter than the one featured on Rex.The legs, arms and hands all all re-used from the Rex figure and you have the white armor with a glossy looking grey throughout the figure which looks good. You also have dirt or scratch marks found throughout the figure, most noticeable on the fron torso section. On the figures back you have the same kind of square design with the holes like seen with Rex.
Articulation is the same as the Rex figure which features both double-jointed elbows and knees. You have hinges on the hands and a torso joint that allows you to rotate there with a little bit of back and forth motion. The ankle joints are tight on this one but you do have the standard pivot motion.
While Wolffe uses many of the same parts as Rex, the figure still comes off looking fairly unique which is nice. The background story on Wolffe is a pretty cool one as he is one of the Clones who managed to life into older age and was featured not only in the Clone Wars cartoon, but in the Rebels one as well. If you have the Black Series Captain Rex or just like Clones I think this one is a must have to add to your collection. Look for it on shelves now.
