Takashi Okazaki Wins Emmy For Star Wars: Visions Character Design

Japanese manga artist and illustrator Takashi Okazaki has won an Emmy for his work on Disney+’s Star Wars: Visions.

Okazaki took home the award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for character design on Star Wars: Visions Volume 3's “The Duel: Payback,” one of nine shorts in the latest installment of the anthology series.

The Disney+ series features work from several studios, expanding the Star Wars universe through distinct visual styles and storytelling approaches.

Speaking to reporters after Sunday’s ceremony in Los Angeles, an excited Okazaki said he has always sought to do something new with his work. He added that he was particularly thrilled to receive the honor for a project connected to Star Wars, a franchise he has long loved.

Okazaki previously received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Animated Program for his work on Afro Samurai: Resurrection.
