Star Wars: Starfighter First Look Footage Revealed at D23

Lucasfilm unveiled first look footage and character details for the upcoming movie Star Wars: Starfighter at Disney's D23 fan expo. Directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine), the film will feature an entirely new cast and era, hitting theaters on May 28, 2027, to align with the 50th anniversary of the original Star Wars film.

Set five years after The Rise of Skywalker, making it the furthest chronological point in the current canon. The film is a standalone featuring Ryan Gosling in the lead role of Kade Auberon, a pilot who owns a decommissioned Imperial starfighter—described as the fastest ship ever built. The star-studded cast also includes Amy Adams, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, and Flynn Gray.

The exclusive D23 teaser trailer showed Kade catching his nephew inside his garage playing with his ship. Then brief snippets showcase a high-octane cockpit view as Kade flies across distinct alien landscapes while droids fire upon his ship as his companion droid helps him navigate through the barrage.
