Disney+ Star Wars Cassian Andor Series To Recycle Unused Creature Designs

Bespin refugee - March 27, 2020

From Ralph McQuarrie's original designs to unused designs from the sequel trilogy, a lot of unused creature designs have seen given a second life in recent productions. Practical effects expert Neal Scanlan, who is working on the upcoming Cassian Andor series for Disney+, is also giving some of the unused, or underused, character designs a second chance.
"s. "...We also have this backlog of characters. A lot of the characters that we built for all of the films either didn't make it to the final cut, because that's just the way that the film process happens, or that they are seen so momentarily that there is this wonderful second opportunity to bring back some of the characters that we've made and bring them to this new storyline in a more, shall we say, integrated way. I think it's going to be tremendous. I find that it's a second opportunity for everything that we've made, plus the opportunity of moving TV along, in a sense, at what will not at all be diminished as far as the level of quality, the level of things that we are going to try and achieve."
Diego Luna will return for the series, along with Alan Tudyk as K2SO. Stephen Schiff (The Americans) is on board to run the show, and Tony Gilroy, who worked on Rogue One's additional writing and filming, is also part of the creative team. Due to current conditions, it is unclear when the series start production.

Depending on the timeline I guess it makes sense for them not to have K-2SOshow up at least not yet anyway.

This one and the Book of Boba Fett, are the live action projects for which I have most interest, maybe Visions will also be interesting.

While Lucasfilm announcedK-2SO to be part of the upcoming Andor series,Alan Tudyk, the actor who helped bring him to life inRogue Onereveals he is not currently involved with the series."They're shooting it right now, I'm not in it. But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I'll end up in there.". Depending on how far they are into filming, is K-SO being introduced later in the season, or are there plans for a second season? Due to the challenges of preforming his character using stilts, Tudyk hopes to be included soon. "...I turn 50 in March. So I hope they get to it soon, because I'm not going to be on stilts in, like, five years. I'm not doing it!"(Source:EmpireOnline)

Something tells me this won't be starting production this year after all.

It's always good to see more alien designs, but I hope we see some familiar ones too.

Rogue One is my favorite Star Wars, so I'm incredibly hyped about this series.
