Rumor: Taika Waititi To Helm A Future Star Wars Film?

By Bespin refugee on 2020-01-20 in Movie & TV
Following up a directing job on Thor: Ragnarok, as well as an episode of The Mandalorian, 'sources' say Taika Waititi is being considered to create a future Star Wars film. Disney and Lucasfilm have no comment. In addition to directing Ragnarok, and the 'Redemption" episode of The Mandalorian, the actor/director also worked on the Academy Award nominated film, Jojo Rabbit, has voiced numerous characters, including The Mandalorian's IG-11, and is scheduled to work on Thor: Love and Thunder for late 2021, followed by Warner Brothers, adaptation of Akira.

Style? Yeah, I guess you could call it that. If by "style" you mean the sense of humor of a 13 year-old trailer park stoner who's best directorial efforts thus far make Leonard Part 6 look like Citizen Kane.

So...not a fan of Thor Ragnarok, I take it?

Taika proved that he can direct fun movies and even put some depth, he seems to be good fit for the franchise. I think just doing a Star Wars story type movie is the way to go, they can focus on early days of Darth Vader maybe even on Luke after the end of ROJ or go into the past as it was rumored.

He would be an interesting choice, although I don't know if his particular style would be suited for Star Wars or would go over well with the fans.
