With the release of
the teaser trailer for Star Wars- Episode 9: The Rise Of Skywalker, anticipation ramps up for the final film of the Skywalker Saga. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy
says, even before they started The
Force Awakens, they knew they would wrap up the nine episode storyline. Director J.J. Abrams says, when [Kennedy] asked if he'd be interested to return, ", I was surprised by how emotional I felt about it,.. “I didn’t expect to feel the way I did, and the opportunity to finish the story we started was something I couldn’t resist.” He describes "trying to tie everything together as “this crazy challenge,” but believes that the movie will satisfy the demands placed upon it."
John Boyega says, “I’m very proud of the story that J.J. put together, and I’m very proud of the performances,” Daisy Ridley adds, “I felt a lot of emotion because I was so happy with what we were doing, I was so happy with the people I was working with, the cast and crew was amazing. All of the other stuff sort of falls to the wayside." Naomi Ackie, who plays new character Jana, says it was quite overwhelming, but, it continues to be positive.
Meanwhile, Kathleen Kennedy is looking toward the future of the property. With
the launch of the Disney+ streaming service later this year, fans can look forward to the
Star Wars on the small screen, with
The Mandalorian and the Cassian Andor series. Kennedy also plans a return to the big screen at some point, she says there is a summit planned for next month to discuss their plans. ""I’m sitting down now with Dan Weiss and David Benioff (who have a trilogy in the works) .and Rian Johnson (who is also developing a trilogy of films) We’re all sitting down to talk about, where do we go next? We’ve all had conversations about what the possibilities might be, but now we’re locking it down." "We are looking at the next saga. We are not just looking at another trilogy, we're really looking at the next 10 years or more," Kennedy said.
