Episode IX Poster Debunked As Fake By Luke Skywalker Himself

By Jay Cochran on 2019-03-30 in Movie & TV
The other day we told you how a mysterious poster had shown up online seemingly to reveal stuff for the as-of-yet named Episode 9 movie. Now unlike many, we were pretty clear that this poster could very well be a fan made creation and didn't try and sell you on how real it was. As it turns out, at least according to Mark Hamill himself it is in fact just a fan made creation.

I suppose Hamill could be lying just to try and throw people off the trail, but I doubt it, and of course the usual suspect of websites that reported this as real I am sure will face no backlash from fans for once again reporting bogus news, but hey that is the way the Internet seems to work these days.

I don't know. "Passionate fan" are not words I would use to describe whoever gets hired to make some of those posters we've been seeing for blockbuster movies over the past decade or so, if this is one of them. And there's a comment in that twitter thread where Hamill posted a cry-laughing emoji at 3P0 with the bowcaster, and I kinda doubt he'd do that if it was official, even if it were leaked.

Touche!

But isnt Hamill known for tongue-in-cheek statements? I mean, whos to say the passionate fan isnt working for a merchandisecompany?

My bet is that its a mock-up of a retail poster to solicit to stores

Interesting. Not sure if the troopers at the bottom are actually red. It appears to me that they look red due to Kylo's lightsaber. Can't tell for sure. I'm rather curious about the knights of Ren, wonder if they'll be doing something.

could be real but disney could change poster for U.S. and send this poster overseas.

A whole bunch of characters jammed together in various action poses, going from larger to smaller depending on importance, couple of ships in the background. This is literally every franchise movie poster Disney's ever done (see also every Avengers movie poster). Huge yawn.

Between The Last Jedi throwing out pretty much everything set up in The Force Awakens and seeing things like Kylo in his helmet again and no Rose (which I'm not saying is a BAD thing), I wonder how much continuity any of these movies will have with each other.

If all that is legit, I don't like that JJ's got Lando wearing what is essentially his outfit from Solo, because I refuse to believe that he would wear the same thing twice. There's other things I don't like, but screw it.

It looks like the kind of poster you'd see in the toy isle at Target. I'd say it's real. It even confirms the rumor that Kylo's mask is the same one he destroyed in The Last Jedi.
