Bespin refugee - December 29, 2017
In 2012, The Walt Disney Co. spent $4.06 billion to purchase Lucasfilm; this year, the film franchise's worldwide box-office has surpassed that amount. Not including merchandising, or accounting for production and marketing costs, 2015's The Force Awakens grossed $2.068 billion globally (including an all-time best $936.7 million in North America, not accounting for inflation), 2016's Rogue One reached $1.056 billion worldwide, and The Last Jedi which passed $900M on Thursday, is expected to end up somewhere in between the two, in terms of its lifetime gross.
