Was Lando Almost In #StarWars #TheLastJedi? (Spoilers)

Bespin refugee - December 20, 2017
While fans have hoped for a return of Billy Dee Williams' card player and scoundrel, Lando Calrissian, in the newest series of Star Wars films, Last JedI director Rian Johnson reveals that it almost happened. He says, "I briefly considered — would he work in the Benicio [del Toro] part, [DJ].”; but, it was decided the character, a hacker/codebreaker, was too morally ambiguous to fit Lando's character. '"I don’t think you would ever buy that Lando would just completely betray the characters like that and have that level of moral ambiguity,” Johnson explained.' He's hoping they find a place for him in Episode 9.
