'Future Filmmaker' panel at Celebration Europe, along with John Boyega, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill. It was revealed that he had auditioned for about six months, and screen tested with Chewbacca, in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. Cameras will roll in January or February.

Hail, Caesar!, and is also the lead in Warren Beatty’s movie about Howard Hughes. When asked last year, Harrison Ford had this advise for whoever got the role, “I would say, ‘Talk to your director. Watch the movies. And welcome aboard. Make it your own.’”

[4/14] After numerous screen tests that narrowed the search down to the field of possible actors portraying Han Solo for the stand-alone movie in the Star Wars universe, Alden Ehrenreich has emerged as the front-runner for the coveted role.
The casting for this character has been so top-secret that it has gotten to the point of being referred to as project Red Cup. After screen tests, it was narrowed down to only a handful of actors that included Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor. However, sources with knowledge of the casting process, said that Ehrenreich is now leading the pack after after an impressive performance.
The Han Solo film from Disney is set to be released on May 26th, 2018 and will be directed The Lego Movie team of by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy is producing with Lawrence Kasdan and Jason McGatlin being executive producers. Kasdan, who is credited with writing the scripts for The Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi and The Force Awakens — scripted the new movie with his son Jon Kasdan.
The movie will focus on Solo as background of being a smuggler before linking up with the rebel alliance.
