The Eyes Of Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Maz Kanata

Bespin refugee - November 19, 2015

I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people. I see your eyes. I know your eyes.”

This is the voice of Maz Kanata, a diminutive, former pirate, played by Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave). Maz has lived for over a thousand years. running a watering hole for the last 100 years; and her eyes are an important part of her character. "As an actor for film, your eyes are a lot of the way you communicate anyway,” says Nyong’o. “So it was definitely a gift to have that be the means to her magic as a motion-capture character.”
