2014 SDCC Day 1: Meet The Heroes Of Star Wars Rebels Panel

By Jay Cochran on 2014-07-24 in Movie & TV
David Collins is hosting the Star Wars Rebels panel at San Diego Comic Con. On Panel is David Filoni and the entire voice cast for the series.

Showed a clip where the Inquisitor spins his lightsaber kinda like Darth Maul. The series will have comedy elements to it from the character.

As a cast they all record together and have been recording about a year for this series. Steve Blum is the clown and Freddie is the big brother and they have all really come together over the course of the year to embody their characters. Filoni encourages the cast to speak up and make it a collaborative effort.

Bringing vehicles like the Tie-Fighter and characters like Stormtroopers to the screen is a dream come true for Filoni.

The fun of Rebels for writer Simon Kinberg is returning to the original movies.

Tiyn Sircar says the fans have been very supportive and she feels no pressure. Sabine and Hera have an almost sister like relationship and Hera who is older has respect for Sabine.

There will also be a lot of suspense in this series. The show starts with a small group who never really realize will evolve into a full fledged Rebel Alliance. This 4-5 people bounding together to overcome the tyranny and is the beginning of what is to come. This series takes place right after Order 66. The Empire in the beginning isn't necessarily viewed as something bad by most, in fact its the opposite. The Jedi were branded traitors in the eyes of the general public. You begin to see the Empire torture and abuse innocent people and find out why someone might want to start a rebellion.

At the end of the day these people, the Rebels are just trying to survive and feed themselves, not free the galaxy.

Freddie Prinze Jr. says he feels the pressure of being involved with such an iconic property. Part of his characters Kanan's life was cut short and so he struggles with things like the darker side that can get fired up and has to keep in control, and he puts that on Ezra. He is not really equipped to train someone else at first.

Ezra has a lot of faith in Kanan in the series.

Obi-Wan will be in the series more than what we see in the trailer...laughter.

R2-D2 is like a dog and Chopper is like a cat, he just doesn't care.

Clone Wars Cameo's will remain a secret. It would be insane for Filoni who created Clone Wars to not put any of those characters in this series but at the same time this is a series on it's own. Laughter again when it comes to whether we will see Ahsoka.

The story will be more contained than what we saw in Clone Wars.

Could we see characters from this series ever appear in movies? Anything is possible.

TX or Scout Trooper armors, will they be in the show? Filoni loves seeing new things and different aspects and new armors, so he is going to do his best to give you lots of different armors.

Worlds from previous Star Wars movies and series can appear in this new show.

R2-D2 and C-3PO will be on the show.

Panel Ends.
