In a recent interview with the
LA Times Vice Chairman of Paramount Pictures Rob Moore told them that Abrams recent announcement about him directing the next Star Wars movie for Disney will not effect his commitment to Paramount for producing the next Star Trek movie after "Into Darkness" as well as additional Mission: Impossible movies. He would not however commit to Abrams directing anymore Star Trek movies after this current one.
In other Abrams news,
THR is reporting that Abrams may be pushing for the release of the next Star Wars movie to be moved from 2015 to sometime in 2016. Disney had recently announce Star Wars Episode VII would be released in 2015 which means the movie would have to begin production very soon, which doesn't seem likely since Abrams is still currently working on Star Trek Into Darkness post production and then will have to go on the media circuit to help promote it.
If you ask us, if waiting another year for the next Star Wars film to be released means great movies from both franchises then we say its worth the wait.
