Echo Base Rebel Command Center By Star Wars Plastic Playsets

Commentary:
Hoth was the very first plastic playset I ever made. After 3 Instamorph versions, I'm happy to finally get to a point where I can design decent looking ice for a fully 3D printed version. As always, I end up with a few seams from my not-so-perfect assembly of it. Thankfully ice surely can have cracks, so not a big deal with this particular location. I'm happy with the action features (tower, knock-a-figure-down, rock cave-in, and the lights are more ambitious than any lighting I've integrated before. The stalactites break easily. I think the lighting looks best in a dark room.
Notes (READ if you plan to attempt print):

1. If any pieces don't quite slide into each other well, try to sand/slice/trim off a tiny bit of plastic from the piece. Use dabs of adhesive here and there to keep the whole thing together. Connector pieces are mainly meant to be guides to help things fit together in the right position, not for securing pieces together.

2. It's not engineered like a toy would be, so be careful moving it and with any "play." Corners may feature sharp points or edges. The release is meant for adults only; supervise children using prints of this.

3. Assemble floor areas first. For walls, try to assemble moving from Command area to medical area.

4. I suggest printing the lookout tower tiny base and pipes/hoses in a flexible plastic like TPU. It will help those elements fit more snugly onto the main playset.

5. I've included a few alternate pieces. For example, hallway floor has a version without a spot for gratings and a version for gratings.

5a. I've included a 3MF file that contains all the pieces of the set roughly in assembly position. It's meant to help guide you for assembly. The models included in this 3MF have not been "fixed" and you should not print from the 3MF file.

6. The top of the playset integrates this spring-loaded object from Thingiverse. Follow the directions on the post for assembly information. I found it very smart to include an extra small spring behind the round button piece, to help push it back out after the button is pressed.

7. I use LED lights and switches and whatnot from this source (not an endorsement, but I've had good experiences with the simplicity of items from this vendor):

The battery box is designed to hold a 9v battery.

7a. You'll need a piece of thin clear plexiglass (a piece of flat clear plastic packaging would probably work even better) for the medical window. It should be sized ~165mm by 120mm.

8. And as always, remember I release my files for free personal use. They should never be used for profit or sold. While my designs look like toy playsets, they are not - and may contain sharp corners and are meant for adults, not children, once printed. User accepts all liability for use. While every effort is made to ensure parts fit together well, there is no guarantee and no support for printing is offered with this release.

9. The radar screen and bacta tank elements used in photos are official Hasbro releases. I did not model those elements and therefore they aren't found in the file release.
