#Lucasfilm #Custom Of The Week: 1:6 ROTLA Boulder Chase By Hemble Creations

By Bespin refugee on 2017-11-19 in Custom Toys & Art

This week's custom is a Raiders Of The Lost Ark Diorama by Hemble Creations

"The boulder for the indy dio is made and I just need to paint it. I used a balloon and then used plasta cloth to cover it and once dry I then used watered down spakfilla and covered the boulder with it.

I have attached the boulder to the inside of the dio and then I glued aluminum foil to simulate the cave wall/ceiling. Once the glue was dry for the aluminum foil I then used plaster cloth and covered the foil.
The stalagmites/stalactites were done using the left over plaster cloth.
Next up I will be using spakfilla to cover the plaster cloth to cover holes etc.

Ihave sprayed the wall/ceiling with Tamiya's German Grey and the boulder was sprayed with Tamiya's Medium Grey.
I still need to weather everything and then start on the floor and then the vines/roots and moss.

The walls and ceiling of the cave were given light washes of a 50/50 mix of Army Painter Castle Grey/ Dungeon Grey, once dry I then gave the cave and boulder a few light washes of Vallejo Beige Brown.
I have also painted up Indy using Army Painter/ Vallejo/Reaper paints and now just need to weather him.

I have added the dirt/debri to the floor by mixing potty mix and dirt then applying it with PVA glue.
I have also made a few moss pieces by getting a piece of baking paper and then applying PVA glue then using fine railway model clumps and sprinkling it over the glue. Once dry I will be able to just peel the pieces of and then apply them to the dio.

I added more moss to the moss that was already glued down to give it more thickness.
I also added spider webs and thanks to Roger Bowen for suggesting the Halloween spider webs but the ones I found were really thick so I used cotton wool intsead.

I have added vines/roots using dried out roots from trees, they were cut to size then glued in place.

I added the crate using balsa wood and gave it a few washes of Vallejo's beige brown, I just need to give it a light sanding then it's done.

I was going to just have INDIANA JONES written on the crate but after listening to everybodies comments I had a good think about it and the appropriate stenciling had to be the one at the end of Raiders when the crate is being stored at area 51.
