Clone Wars Sketch Card Artist Spotlight: Tod Allen Smith

Bespin refugee - September 15, 2008
Over the last year, I've gotten to know quite a few artists who work on the sketch card inserts for various trading card sets. StarWars.com spotlights artists who have worked on the StarWars and Indiana Jones cards; and I'd like to introduce you to a few more artists and showcase their work.

Tod Allen Smith has recently worked on cards for the Clone Wars card set, and you can see some of his other work here.

Dude! DON'T buy cr@p on line! Internets are a scam. They'll get your credit cards and your social and they give them to spammers and ID thieves. I know this don't ALWAYS happen and I know that there are prolly some good HONEST dealers out there but as long as the chance exists no one s getting EvilStar's info!

For the hard to get cr@p, go to a con. They usually have everything there and even if they're jacking the prices so dose the Internet AND you have to pay freaking shipping! Dang, Dude! It's like they get you both ways!

Uhh...I'm in Australia, where I am only has 1 con a year, and well, GIJOE's just aren't really available here, hence why I have to order over the net. Plus the strength of our dollar means the prices are still extremely reasonable.

As to my credit card info, I work for a bank, so have access to some great resources if I ever have a problem.

One of the reasons I post topics like this is to get a good idea from other customers about the best places to buy.

Thanks for the replies all, I've managed to find a dealer on Ebay who sounds promising. I've ordered about a dozen figures, and we'll see things go from there.

Thanks for your time, everyone

I would imagine that Oz is far worse than Canada for brick & motar retail availability (which is pretty bad)

Depends on the line, but yeah, a lot of the good stuff is either not available, or sparsely available and amazingly late.

For me BBTS is the way to go. I live in Canada so we're a month behind on Joe figs (if we get them) and as with eveything else retail on Joes is higher here than in the U.S. (around $10.00 and up a fig).

BBTS shipping included usually works out cheaper than brick and motar stores for me. And that's not even counting my time and gas to go on fruitless hunts.

Ah ha! I smell an opportunity here......

I live in The Netherlands, so my only option to get any Joe figures is the internet.

Personally I recomand BBTS. I'm very pleased with their service and selection.

Hey, I will be in your neightborhood (so-to-speak) on early Tuesday US EST. I have a transfer in Amsterdam for a flight to Manchester UK. The airport there is always a good time.

I've always had good luck with BBTS and smalljoes.

Shipping might still nail you, but you can order them by the set and save that way at both places (and by the case at BBTS).

BBTS also has their 'pile of loot' that saves money on shipping.

BBTS has yet to do me wrong as well.
